The Grand Bassa County Authority has presented 28 motorbikes to Statutory District Superintendents and Commissioners in the County’s five Districts for the effective and unhindered discharge of their duties.

Superintendent Karyou Johnson turned over the bikes on Wednesday, July 23 after hours of Fast and Prayer that was conducted at the Administrative Building in Buchanan.

The motorbikes were sourced out of the 2024 budget in consultation with the Legislative Caucus and approval from the County Council, Superintendent Johnson told the gathering; mentioning that it demonstrates the Decentralization policy of the Government.

The turnover by Superintendent Karyou Johnson was in furtherance to the commitment made by the County Authorities to support Agriculture activities across the County through the County and Social Development Fund for the advancement of farming initiatives for livelihood improvement.

On Monday, August 18, Interim President, Rev. Dr. Samuel B. Reeves received the keys to the 4-door Toyota Hilux Pick-up from Superintendent Johnson, a moment the Administrative Head of the County used to remind the University Authority that the decision corresponds with the National Government Development Agenda [the ARREST AGENDA FOR INCLUSIVE DEVELOPMENT] and the County Development Agenda; all of which point to Agriculture as a vital Pillar.

The commendation statement of Rev. Dr. Reeves also contained assurance that his Administrative team is prepared to work with local farmers in accelerating the processing of produce from their farms including Cassava and Palm Oil.

Attending the brief ceremony at the Administrative Building of the County in Buchanan were, Deputies of the Superintendent in addition to GBU Student Union Government Leadership, Administrative and teaching staff of the University.

The Funding for the procurement of the vehicle was sourced from the County and Social Development Fund- 2024 Budgetary allotment.
